Conference: Robert Ilgen meets Robert Schlotter
Series: The future of the decentralised

The architect Robert Ilgen and the photographer and landscape fruit grower Robert Schlotter are both active in Thuringia as well as abroad. They not only connect different places - Robert Ilgen Schwalungen with Vilnius and Robert Schlotter Albersdorf with Bielefeld - but share both a peculiar interest for the scale of landscape. A discussion around their oeuvre, their different works and experiences, is an occasion for reflecting on the role that design practices can play today around the world and beyond the metropolis. Considerations on the relationship between artificial and natural structures, the realm of the visual, spatial structures such as the garden or the forest, scenography and the “Oeschbergschnitt”, a method of growing large-crowned fruit trees from the 1920s, are only some of the topics being discussed.
